Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tragic loss of eleven innocent Druze children in Majdal Shams, Golan Heights. These precious lives were brutally cut short by a rocket attack from Lebanon while they were playing a game of soccer on Saturday, July 27. The attack, which also injured more than 30 people, marks the deadliest assault on northern Israel since the outbreak of hostilities on the Israel-Lebanon border on October 8, 2023.
Many in the Druze community, an ethnic and religious minority, have long been an integral part of Israeli society. Known for their loyalty and bravery, many Druze proudly serve in the Israel Defense Forces, demonstrating their deep commitment to the State of Israel, where they enjoy full citizenship and freedom of religion.
We at Alliance for the Peace of Jerusalem stand against terrorism in all its forms and vehemently condemn this heinous act of terrorism. We are praying for healing for the wounded and comfort for those families who have lost precious children in this tragedy. We stand with Israel and the Druze community during this time of grief, and we continue to pray for peace in the Middle East (Psalm 122:6).
